Smith Qualifies 22nd in California

FONTANA, Calif. (Feb. 19, 2010) -- Regan Smith will start 22nd in Sunday's Auto Club 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

In Friday's time trials at Auto Club Speedway, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet covered the two-mile oval in 39.708 seconds at 181.324 miles per hour.

"We have a couple of more practices to get the Furniture Row Chevy dialed in," stated Smith. "We were mainly focused in race trim during today's practice. We're picking away at the setup and feel we're heading in the right direction for Sunday's race."

The pole winner was Jamie McMurray (183.744 mph). Rounding out the top five in order were: Juan Pablo Montoya, Clint Bowyer, Kasey Kahne and Dave Blaney.

Sunday's 250-lap, 500-mile race will be televised on FOX, beginning with a prerace show at noon MT. The green flag is scheduled to drop at 1:16 p.m. MT.
