Combined efforts came up short
April 1, 2008
Furniture Row Racing and Joe Nemechek ended up 35th fastest in final practice on Friday and 7th of the "go or go home" cars with a time of 20.081 and 94.298 mph leading into qualifying at Martinsville Speedway. Unfortunately their combined efforts came up short in qualifying for making the race on Sunday. The car unloaded off the truck very close it was just a little bit on the tight side. During the practice runs we freed the chassis up and continually went faster. After the last run we decided to make one more small adjustment to free the car up and this proved to be a fatal mistake. That last little bit put the set up over the top and Joe found himself extremely loose off the corners, he then over drove into the corners to compensate for not coming off the corners. This made for a horrible lap. We were thinking that it would be the difference we needed to be on top of the go or go homers. We got greedy and in the end Joe was not fast enough to make the race. Had we not touched the car after practice we would have made the race, Lesson learned.
Next up will be something new with the Car of Today at Texas Motor Speedway. Joe and the team look forward to redeeming themselves in Texas this coming weekend.
