Smith Qualifies 32nd in Darlington

DARLINGTON, S.C. (May 7, 2010) -- Regan Smith will start 32nd in Saturday night's SHOWTIME Southern 500 Sprint Cup race at Darlington Raceway.

In Friday's time trials, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet covered the 1.366-mile oval in 27.962 seconds at 176.094 miles per hour.

"We just didn't get it done today," said Smith. "But tomorrow is when it counts and I feel that we'll be able to step on it and move forward in the Furniture Row Chevy."

The pole winner was Jamie McMurray (180.370). Rounding out the top-five in order were: Jeff Gordon, Brian Vickers, David Reutimann and Mark Martin.

Saturday night's race will be televised on FOX, beginning with a prerace show at 5 p.m. MT.
