ALL-STAR Week Kicks Off
May 17, 2007
ALL STAR FINALE
Furniture Row Racing heads to Lowe’s Motor Speedway this weekend to compete in the ALL STAR festivities.
The team is returning from a 24tth place finish at Darlington last weekend.
General Manager, Joe Garone gives us the play by play.
“Darlington was the first COT track we tackled without a test.
So naturally we were apprehensive.
However, the team did a great job during qualifying and we ended up with the 6th fastest qualifying time.
During the race, the team struggled with set up and we ended up being two laps down.
However, Kenny managed to dodge wrecks and stay out of trouble.
Ultimately, we landed a top 25 finish, and gained two positions in owner’s points, shortening the gap to the top 35.
This weekend we’re using the OPEN as a test for next weekend’s race at Lowe’s.
We’re bringing a new car with a new aero package, so we’re taking advantage of the opportunity and consider this a free test.
The OPEN will provide us with the direction to prep for the Coca-Cola 600 next weekend.”
Fans will be put in the driver’s seat with Kenny during the OPEN courtesy of an in-car Kenny cam provided by SPEED.
After the OPEN, fans will be anxiously awaiting the announcement of the driver that will be permitted to participate in the CHALLENGE via fan vote.
Kenny and crew organized a highly publicized, multi-tiered campaign effort that launched on April 1st to get Kenny voted into the CHALLENGE.
Did it work? Stay turned to SPEED at 9:00pm this Saturday to find out.
Voting remains open until 30 minutes into the OPEN which begins at 7:40 via two methods.
