Smith Qualifies 17th for Sprint All-Star Race

Regan Smith will start 17th in Saturday night's non-points Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In Friday's unique qualifying session at the 1.5-mile oval, which included three timed laps and a four-tire pit stop, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet was clocked in 124.528 seconds at 130.091 miles per hour.
The pole went to Kyle Busch's No. 18 team with a time and speed of 119.191 seconds at 135.916 mph. Rounding out the top-five in order were: Clint Bowyer, Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards and Mark Martin.
Smith will be among 22 drivers participating in the four-segment all-star race of 50, 20, 20 and 10 laps. The winning purse is $1 million.
SPEED will have continuous coverage of the all-star races, beginning with the preliminary Sprint Showdown at 5 p.m. MT, followed by the Sprint All-Star Race at approximately 7 p.m. MT.
