Smith Qualifies in Dover

May 29, 2009

DOVER, Del. (May 29, 2009) -- Regan Smith continued his 100 percent qualifying effort in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The Furniture Row Racing driver made it seven-for-seven Friday in races entered and races qualified this season.

In Friday's time trials at Dover International Speedway, Smith qualified 33rd for Sunday's Autism Speaks 400 with a lap time and speed of 23.461 seconds at 153.446 miles per hour.

"I got a little loose out there but managed to keep the car off the wall," said Smith. "I say this all the time -- our first goal is to qualify, and we once again achieved the mission. It sure feels good to be back on the track after a three-week absence."

The pole winner was David Reutimann (156.794 mph). Rounding out the top five in order were: Kasey Kahne, Juan Pablo Montoya, Reed Sorenson and Greg Biffle.

Sunday's race will be televised on FOX, beginning with a prerace show at 11:30 a.m. MT.
