Keeping Pace with Agriculture Technology Vital for Modern-Day Farmers

For people growing up in agriculture, farming and ranching is in their blood. It's difficult to describe the passion and pride that a person has for taking care of their land and livestock while providing a reliable food source for their neighbors and their country.

That passion has followed Gregg Doud, a Kansas farm boy, all the way to Washington D.C. For the past 20 years Doud has worked to help the people of agriculture understand the economics of the business.

Growing up on a traditional wheat, grain sorghum, soybeans and alfalfa farm near Mankato, Kan., Doud learned early on from his dad, Eldon, how to embrace change and technology.

For more than 50 years Eldon has been farming. Although there have been many changes to the farming industry, he has keenly adapted to the new technology and continues to stay active.

Even though Gregg's work has him based on the east coast he has maintained his country roots in Kansas. This modern-day farmer has a cattle herd in Kansas which is managed by his business partner.

"The best part about being involved in agriculture in Washington D.C. for the past 20 years has been that a farm reality check was never more than a phone call away," said Doud. "I'm looking forward to spending even more time back in Kansas as my cattle herd continues to grow."

Furniture Row Racing and the Farm American initiative appreciate the Douds' approach to modern agriculture. After all, the Denver, Colo.-based Furniture Row Racing is not a traditional NASCAR team. For starters it's the only Sprint Cup team based west of the Carolinas.

Gregg Doud and Furniture Row Racing have proven that it's not where you live or where you're based. It's about possessing a vision and a sincere passion to obtain to obtain success.
