DOVER, Del. (May 31, 2009) -- The part-time, single-car team of Furniture Row Racing had another solid effort Sunday with driver Regan Smith finishing 22nd in Sunday's Autism Speaks 400 Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway.

Though it was only the seventh race of the season for the No. 78 Denver, Colo.-based team, Smith held his own on the Monster Mile and ran as high as 12th before slipping back to the low 20s.

"We needed to get that Lucky Dog and get back on the lead lap," said Smith. "Whenever we were in position to get it, the caution didn't come our way. But overall it was a good effort. We're at the 20th-place barrier, but we want to be in the top-15 barrier consistently. Actually we had a top-15 car today but just couldn't get back on the lead lap."

Smith, who has been running at the finish in every one of his 48 career Cup starts, qualified 33rd and patiently picked his way through the field in his Chevrolet Impala SS.

"Regan did another great job," said crew chief Jay Guy. "He knows when to be aggressive and also knows when to be a savvy driver."

In the seven races for the Furniture Row team, Smith has finished in the top 22 or better five times. His best finish was 15th at Talladega in late April.

We're getting closer to that top-10 finish," added Guy. "We're having fun and we're going to keep working hard to achieve our goals."

The next NASCAR Sprint Cup race for the Furniture Row Racing team will be Sunday (June 7) at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa.
