Smith Qualifies 24th in Pocono

LONG POND, Pa. (June 4, 2010) -- Regan Smith will start 24th in Sunday's Gillette Fusion ProGlide 500 Sprint Cup race at Pocono Raceway.

In Friday's time trials at the three-turn, 2.5-mile track, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet recorded a lap time and speed of 53.739 seconds at 167.476 miles per hour.

"We had a good practice in race trim earlier in the day and I am feeling upbeat about Sunday's race," stated Smith, who finished 19th in Charlotte last week. "We continue to make progress as a team and I see no reason why we can't keep up the positive trend."

The pole winner was Kyle Busch (169.485 mph). Rounding out the top-five in order were: Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin.

Sunday's race will be televised on TNT, beginning with a 60-minute prerace show at 10 a.m. MT.
