Smith's Qualifying Report -- Chicagoland Speedway

JOLIET, Ill. (July 9, 2010) -- Regan Smith will start 41st in Saturday night's LifeLock.com 400 Sprint Cup race at Chicagoland Speedway.

In Friday's late afternoon qualifying session, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet covered the 1.5-mile oval in 30.623 seconds at 178.436 miles per hour.

"We have some catching up to do, but we'll get there," said Smith. "The plan is to patiently move forward as soon as the green flag drops."

The pole winner was Jamie McMurray (183.542 mph). Rounding out the top-five in order were: Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Greg Biffle and Sam Hornish Jr.

Saturday night's 400-mile race will be televised on TNT, beginning with a 60-minute prerace show at 4:30 p.m. MT.
