Nemechek Qualifies at the Brickyard

July 26, 2008

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (July 26, 2008) -- Joe Nemechek will start 36th for Sunday's running of the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard.

The Furniture Row Racing driver came through in Saturday morning's qualifying session at the historic 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway by posting a lap of 50.823 seconds at 177.085 miles per hour.

"We were looking for a little more out of our Furniture Row Chevy Impala SS," said Nemechek. "But we're in the big dance at the big track and that's all that counts right now. We're going to work hard on our race trim during today's practice sessions."

Nemechek has now qualified in eight straight NASCAR Sprint Cup races and in 17 of the 20 events this season.

The pole winner was Jimmie Johnson. Rounding out the top five in order were: Mark Martin, Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon.

Sunday's race will be televised on ESPN, beginning with a prerace show at 1 p.m. ET, 11 a.m. MT.
