Wimmer Takes on MIS
August 15, 2007
Driver Scott Wimmer will join Furniture Row Racing this weekend at Michigan Motor Speedway.
Wimmer will be maneuvering the 78 Cup car decaled to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the
57 Chevy.
Wimmer states, “I’m excited about the opportunity.
This weekend,
I’m going to work with Jay and Joe to concentrate on a good qualifying run.
I think this will be a good deal for both of us.”
The team heads to Michigan after a solid 31st place finish at Watkins Glen last weekend.
General Manager Joe Garone wraps up the race.
“We practiced well (19th) and felt we would have qualified on time, however we didn’t get the chance due to a rain shower. We lined up 43rd (our points position) for the race and proceeded to work on using track position through pit strategy to improve our position on the track. We were able to get Kenny up to 6th position and on the restart immediately faded to 36th position. We changed our strategy to out last the wrecks, and Kenny did a good job of bringing the car home to a 31st position finish. This was the team’s first road course race and they did a good job at it.”
This Friday,
two-time Daytona 500 winner Sterling Marlin will be in Denver at Furniture Row’s shop for a seat fitting.
Marlin will be in the driver’s seat of the 78 at Bristol on
8/25.
