Nemechek Extends Qualifying Streak

BROOKLYN, Mich. (Aug. 15, 2008) -- Joe Nemechek extended his qualifying streak to 11 straight races by earning a 34th-place starting berth for Sunday's 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

In Friday's qualifying session, Nemechek's No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet covered the 2-mile oval in 39.140 seconds at 183.955 miles per hour.

"The car was much better than the last time we were here (in June)," said Nemechek. "However, we were off just a little -- it was close. If we could have been five percent better on the qualifying run our result would probably have been 50 percent better. All-in-all we feel good about heading into Sunday's race."

Sunday's Sprint Cup event will be televised on ESPN, beginning with a prerace show at 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. MT).
