Nemechek Qualifies, Sets Team Record

FONTANA, Calif. (Aug. 29, 2008) -- Furniture Row Racing set a team record Friday as Joe Nemechek powered the No. 78 Chevrolet to a 20th-place starting position for Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Auto Club Speedway.

The result is the 22nd time Nemechek qualified the Furniture Row Chevy this season, breaking the team's previous single season record of 21 starts. After this weekend there are 11 Cup races remaining.

"The record is a team accomplishment and I am both happy and proud for every member of this organization," said Nemechek. "Our qualifying lap was pretty good today and we're all looking forward to bettering our performance on Sunday."

Nemechek has now qualified in 13 straight Cup races and 22 of the 25 contested this season.

Sunday's race will be televised on ESPN, beginning with a prerace show at 4 p.m. local (5 p.m. MT)
