Nemechek Qualifies 27th in Dover

DOVER, Del. (Sept. 19, 2008) -- Joe Nemechek will start 27th in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway.

In Friday's qualifying session, Nemechek's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet covered the Monster Mile in 23.279 seconds at 154.646 miles per hour.

"We're off to a positive start," said Nemechek. "We made gains from practice to qualifying, and if we can continue to improve in Saturday's two practice sessions, it's going to be a good day on Sunday for the Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet. I have a good feeling about this weekend."

This will be Nemechek's 25th start of the season and the 16th straight race he has qualified.

The pole winner was Jeff Gordon. Rounding out the top five in order were: Mark Martin, Denny Hamlin, Kurt Busch and Greg Biffle.

Sunday's race will be televised on ABC, beginning with prerace show at 1 p.m. ET (11 a.m. MT)
