Smith Finishes 19th in New Hampshire Cup Race

September 19, 2010

LOUDON, N.H. (Sept. 19, 2010) -- Regan Smith finished 19th in Sunday's Sylvania 300 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The result was Smith's best finish in seven starts at the 1.058-mile oval. It was also his 12th finish of the season of 21st or better.

"We had another good weekend of racing in our Furniture Row Chevrolet," said Smith, who qualified 20th for the 300-lap race. "That test session we had a few weeks ago in Milwaukee has really made a big difference. We stuck to our game plan today and fought for everything we got. We came back from a lap down and were able to score a top-20 finish. The Furniture Row Racing improvement continues and it sure feels good."

Furniture Row crew chief Pete Rondeau, who hails from nearby Saco, Maine, was equally pleased with the team's performance at what he calls his home track.

"Regan did a great job today," said Rondeau. "We didn't make many changes to the car and Regan drove his heart out. We talk about the test session that we conducted in Milwaukee and how beneficial it was. From a crew chief standpoint it is really gratifying to apply what you learned, and then see it pay off. Today was another great team effort. We just need to continue our work ethic and I am confident our improvement will soon hit a new level."

The race winner was Clint Bowyer. Rounding out the top-five in order were: Denny Hamlin, Jamie McMurray, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kevin Harvick.

The next stop for the Sprint Cup Series will be Sunday (Sept. 26) at Dover (Del.) International Speedway.
