Nemechek Extends Qualifying Streak to 17
September 26, 2008
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Sept. 26, 2008) -- A time trial nail-biter at Kansas Speedway Friday produced another qualifying effort for Joe Nemechek, who will start Sunday's Sprint Cup race alongside Tony Stewart.
Nemechek, who has now qualified in 17 straight races, will start the Camping World RV 300 from the 42nd position.
Nemechek's Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet covered the 1.5-mile oval in 32.090 seconds at 168.277 miles per hour.
"We didn't connect today," said Nemechek. "We threw a number of different combinations at our Furniture Row Chevy during practice, but nothing seemed to give us a big gain in speed. I am hoping that tomorrow's practices in race trim will be much better than how we performed today in qualifying trim."
Sunday's race will be televised on ABC, beginning with a prerace show at noon local time (11 a.m. MT).
