Nemechek, No. 78 Team Battle Problems at Kansas

September 28, 2008

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Sept. 28, 2008) -- Joe Nemechek finished 38th in Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway.

"We struggled all weekend and just couldn't get it going," said Nemechek as he was leaving the 1.5-mile facility. "We made a number of adjustments and pretty much threw the kitchen sink at the Furniture Row Chevy, but nothing seemed to click."

Though the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing team had a disappointing day, Nemechek's and the crew's effort didn't waver during the 267-lap, 400-mile race.

"Yeah, we were in the rear of the field but we kept on making changes and fought just as hard at the end of the race as we did during the beginning of the race," noted Nemechek. "We hustled all day and gave it 100 percent from start to finish."

The race winner was Jimmie Johnson. Rounding out the top five in order were: Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon and Matt Kenseth.

The next stop for the Funiture Row Racing team will be Sunday (Oct. 5) at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, where Nemechek captured the pole at the spring race.
