Smith Qualifies 13th in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 1, 2010) -- Regan Smith will start 13th in Sunday's Price Chopper 400 Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway. It was the fourth straight top-20 qualifying effort for Smith.
In Friday's time trials, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet toured the 1.5-mile in 31.102 seconds at 173.622 miles per hour.
"My hat's off to this race team for the changes they made after practice, just an awesome job by our crew, led by crew chief Pete Rondeau," said Smith, who was 33rd fastest in practice. "The Furniture Row Chevy was smooth and we got ourselves a decent starting position for Sunday's race. We're off to a solid start and we'll have a couple of practice sessions tomorrow to fine-tune the setup."
The pole winner was Kasey Kahne (174.644 mph). Rounding out the top-five were: Paul Menard, Jeff Gordon, Joey Logano and Greg Biffle.
Sunday's race will be televised on ESPN, beginning with a 60-minute prerace show at 10 a.m. MT.
