Kurt Busch Qualifies 21st in Charlotte
October 11, 2012
In his first day on the job driving the No. 78 Furniture Row/Farm American Chevrolet Kurt Busch qualified 21st for Saturday night's Bank of America 500 Sprint Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
In Thursday night's time trials, Busch covered the 1.5-mile oval in 28.239 seconds at 191.225 miles per hour.
"All around we had a good day," said Busch. "We're getting acclimated with each other and I felt we made progress during today's practice session. The car had more in it for the qualifying lap, but getting the timing down right now is more important than pushing it to the limit. We will continue to fine tune the Furniture Row/Farm American Chevrolet during Friday's two practice sessions and pick up the pace on Saturday night. We're all encouraged."
Greg Biffle captured the pole with a speed of 193.708 mph. Rounding out the top-10 in order were: Mark Martin, Ryan Newman, Clint Bowyer, Jimmie Johnson, Martin Truex Jr., Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne.
Saturday night's race will be televised on ABC, beginning with a 30-minute prerace show at 5 p.m. MT (7 p.m. ET).
