Nemechek Qualifies 27th in Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 31, 2008) -- Joe Nemechek will start 27th in Sunday's Dickies 500 Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.

In Friday's qualifying session, Nemechek's No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet rounded the 1.5-mile oval in 29.020 seconds at 186.079 miles per hour.

"We were looking for a better lap after a pretty good practice session," said Nemechek. "But the good news is qualifying wasn't rained out and we have a better starting position than we had the past three weeks. I have a good feeling about this car."

The pole winner was Jeff Gordon (188.469 mph). Rounding out the top five in order were: Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Sunday's race will be televised on ABC, beginning with a prerace show at 2 p.m. local time (1 p.m. MT).
