TALLADEGA, Ala. (Oct. 31, 2009) -- A light rain at Talladega Superspeedway forced NASCAR officials to cancel Sprint Cup qualifying Saturday. The starting field for Sunday's AMP Energy 500 will be set according to the NASCAR rule book.

Regan Smith, driver for the part-time No. 78 Furniture Row Racing team, will start 43rd.

"We felt our Furniture Row Impala SS was primed for a strong qualifying effort, but unfortunately we didn't get the chance to show our stuff," said Smith, who will start his 16th race of the season. "We like the Superspeedways and look forward to tomorrow's race -- I feel we can run with the lead pack of cars."

In his last two Superspeedway events with the No. 78 team, Smith finished 15th at the spring Talladega race and 12th at the July Daytona race.

Sunday's race will be televised on ABC, beginning with a prerace show at 10 a.m. MT (11 a.m. local time).
