Kurt Busch Qualifies 18th in Texas

November 2, 2012

Kurt Busch will start 18th in Sunday's AAA Texas 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

In Friday afternoon's time trials at Texas Motor Speedway, Busch's No. 78 Furniture Row/Farm American Chevrolet covered the 1.5-mile oval in 28.663 seconds at 188.396 miles per hour.

"Too much was going on during the qualifying lap to post a good time," said Busch, who will start his fourth race with Furniture Row Racing. "The car was tight when I picked up the gas and then it got free through the corners. The focus now is to get our Furniture Row/Farm American Chevrolet race ready for Sunday. We have two practices tomorrow to find the right combination for this high-speed track."

The pole winner was Jimmie Johnson (28.261/191.06). Rounding out the top-10 in order were: Greg Biffle, Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano, Trevor Bayne, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth.

Sunday's race will be televised on ESPN, beginning with a 60-minute prerace show noon MT (1 p.m. local time).
