November 5, 2010
FORT WORTH, Texas (Nov. 5, 2010) -- As a result of posting his best qualifying effort of the 2010 season, Regan Smith will start eighth in Sunday's AAA Texas 500 Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.
In Friday's time trials, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet covered the 1.5-mile oval in 27.948 seconds at 193.216 miles per hour
"We've had a really good Furniture Row Chevy today," said Smith, who has scored three top-13 finishes in the last four races. "The guys did a great job and we've been working closely as a team. I think right around Indy time (late July) is when we started to turn things around for us. We've been picking up the pace and everyone is feeling upbeat about our recent finishes."
The pole winner was Elliott Sadler (195.397 mph). Rounding out the top-five in order were: Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards, Juan Pablo Montoya and David Ragan.
Sunday's race will be televised on ESPN, beginning with a prerace show at noon MT.
