Truex Jr. Qualifies 13th at Indy
July 25, 2015
Qualifying has always been a game of inches at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Saturday's time trials at the 2.5-mile oval were not any different.
Furniture Row Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. failed to advance to the final round of 12 drivers by a mere four-hundreths-of-a-second. He will start 13th for Sunday's Brickyard 400, which will be on the inside Row 7 alongside of Kurt Busch.
Truex's No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet posted a time and speed of 49.116 seconds at 183.240 miles per hour.
"The car felt good, I feel like we had pretty good speed all weekend," said Truex. "I don't know if I got it all or not. It's really close from fifth on back. I hate it for the guys because we were all expecting a better starting position. However, we feel good about how our car performed in race trim during Friday's practice sessions and are looking forward to a strong finish tomorrow."
The pole winner was: Carl Edwards (49.056 at 183.464). Round out the top-12 in order were: Joey Logano, David Ragan, Tony Stewart, Kyle Larson, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kyle Busch, Jamie McMurray, Paul Menard and Jimmie Johnson.
Sunday's 160 lapper will be televised on NBC Sports Network at 1:30 p.m. MT (3:30 ET).
