Truex Jr. Qualifies 25th for the Brickyard 400
July 26, 2014
Furniture Row Racing driver Martin Truex, Jr. will start 25th in Sunday's 20th running of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
In Saturday afternoon's Sprint Cup qualifying at the fabled 2.5-mile oval, Truex's No. 78 Furniture Row/Denver Mattress Chevrolet turned a best lap of 48.794 seconds at 184.449 miles per hour.
"We lost grip from the morning practice session," said Truex, who was 11th fastest in practice. "This is a temperature-sensitive track and it did heat up quite a bit during qualifying. We have a lot of work ahead of us in order to get our Chevy to move forward tomorrow. This is not an easy track to pass on so it's going to be a challenge, but we are up to it, and like our last race in New Hampshire, we'll do everything we can to get our Furniture Row Chevy up front."
The pole winner was Kevin Harvick (Chevrolet, 47.753 at 188.470). Rounding out the top-10 in order were: Jeff Gordon (Chevrolet), Brad Keselowski (Ford), Ryan Newman (Chevrolet), Brian Vickers (Toyota), Tony Stewart (Chevrolet), Kurt Busch (Chevrolet), Juan Pablo Montoya (Ford), Joey Logano (Ford) and Kasey Kahne (Chevrolet).
Sunday's Crown Royal presents the John Wayne Walding 400 at the Brickyard will be televised on ESPN at 11 a.m. MT (1 p.m. ET).
