Smith Qualifies 20th in Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich. (Aug. 13, 2010) -- Regan Smith will start 20th in
Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.
During Friday's time trials, Smith's No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet covered the two-mile oval in 38.904 seconds at 185.071 miles per hour.
"I didn't get enough in turn one," said Smith, who was eighth fastest in the early afternoon practice session. "The rest of the lap was good, but I lost too much in the first turn. But overall this Furniture Row Racing crew has given me a good car. We were strong in race trim and I look for us to get stronger as the weekend progresses."
The pole winner was Kasey Kahne (187.183 mph). Rounding out the top-five in order were: Jimmie Johnson, Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya.
Sunday's CARFAX 400 will be televised on ESPN, beginning with a prerace show at 10 a.m. MT (noon ET).
