Qualifying Canceled at Chicagoland; Truex Jr. to Start 6th in Sunday’s Cup Race
September 16, 2016
Light rain interrupted Friday’s schedule at Chicagoland Speedway, which forced NASCAR to cancel Sprint Cup Series qualifying. The 40-car lineup will be set according to owner points, meaning that Furniture Row Racing driver Martin Truex Jr. will start sixth in Sunday’s opening Chase race.
Barring any weather issues Sprint Cup teams are scheduled for a 60-minute practice later today, and will also have two practice sessions tomorrow.
The top-10 starters in order will be: Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, Truex, Matt Kenseth, Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano and Kyle Larson.
Sunday’s 267-lap, 400-mile race will be televised on NBC Sports Network, 12:30 p.m. MT (1:30 local time).
